Accommodation A three-floor cottage of character, with beautiful panoramic views towards the village of Pelekas. The accommodation comprises, on the ground floor, a kitchen with dining area and a bathroom with shower. The kitchen is equipped with an electric oven, a four-ring hob with extractor fan, and a fridge. French doors lead to a small patio with a table and chairs. A spiral stair leads to the middle floor which is a sitting area. The original restored timber staircase, climbs to the top floor, where there is a bedroom with a double bed and fantastic country views.
Facilities: the house is equipped with a coffee machine, an electric kettle, and a toaster.
Particular details: cleaning and change of sheets once a week. Because the village itself doesn't have many facilities left, we advise you to rent a car.
Corfu Heritage Project A unique initiative to promote sustainable tourism projects in Corfu. Through the Corfu Heritage Project a few old abandoned houses were bought in a traditional village and carefully restored to save them from ruin. Wherever possible, the original elements of the construction were reused or replaced with genuine materials salvaged from elsewhere to preserve the original character and atmosphere of the houses. The interior design is tasteful, with several hand made pieces of furniture and lighting, and offers all modern comforts. A perfect choice if you want to spend your holidays getting to know the local people and their lifestyle, and at the same help bring the old villages back to life.
Varipatades
This very picturesque traditional settlement is located in the central of Corfu, near the village of Pelekas. Purple bougainvillea and bright geraniums contrast with the old stone houses bordering narrow alleys where you feel that time has stood still. Although the atmosphere in the village is peaceful and quiet, the lively capital of the island, Corfu Town, is only nine kilometres away. Except for an old coffee bar, there are no facilities left in Varipatades, so in the morning the baker delivers bread to the locals in the village square. The nearest supermarket is about five minutes drive away. Nearby are many excellent sandy beaches like Kontoyialos, Glyfada and Agios Gordis. Also in the vicinity is the traditional village of Sinarades, with its folklore museum and beautiful church. Varipatades is the perfect place to unwind and discover the charm of the Greek lifestyle.
