Halikouna Beach House

This lovely four bedroom villa on the south-west coast of Corfu is one of very few villas which stands directly above a small bay (virtually private), with access via steps down from the garden. Terrace and garden offer breathtaking views over the stunning coastline below and you can relax in the jacuzzi whilst watching the amazing sunsets.

The villa is located in the conservation area of Halikouna, private and secluded but only 30 kilometers from Corfu Town. The area is peaceful, yet with a wonderful restaurant only a few minutes walk away, and supermarket shopping nearby. With easy access to the beach and to coastal resorts with evening entertainment to suit all ages, Halikouna Beach House is particular suitable for families and couples who want to spend their holidays together.

Accommodation                                                                                                                                    The villa stands in its own enclosed garden right on a cliff above a small bay. It's an airy, comfortable house, fully equipped for a relaxing holiday in Corfu. Halikouna Beach House has great outdoor space and you can choose between sunshine and shade at all times of the day. There are four bedrooms, most with private verandas and sea views. At the pool, sun beds invite you for a relaxing afternoon of sunbathing, but you can also choose to dream away in the jacuzzi (sun-heated). It's a true little paradise for people who want to relax and unwind from the demands of a busy life.

Villa description                                                                                          Comfortable and spacious lounge, equipped with WIFI, Satellite TV and DVD player, leading onto a large covered veranda furnished for outside dining. The separate, fully fitted kitchen has a ceramic hob, oven, fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, drinks fridge, and all necessary cooking utensils. On the ground floor there are 3 twin bedrooms sharing a bathroom and a shower room. Two bedrooms have a veranda with sea view, one with garden view. On the first floor is a very spacious double bedroom, with en-suite shower room and balcony with spectacular sea views. All bedrooms have ceiling fans and air conditioning (at an extra charge)   

Facilities                                                                                                   Dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, Satellite TV (limited channels) DVD player, CD player, telephone, WIFI, air conditioning (extra charge 150 euros a week) and ceiling fans in all bedrooms, safety deposit box, hair dryer, coffee maker, toaster, iron & board, outdoor grill gas, high chair.

Particular details                                                                                                                                 Maid service and linen change twice a week (between 09.00 and 13.00). Pool/jacuzzi service 3 times a week. Extra services such as car rental, transfers, a welcome hamper and chef service are available on request.  

Halikouna

With its endless sandy beach away from the crowded resorts, Halikounas is a wonderful choice for a peaceful holiday. It's located on the south-west coast of the island, about 40 minutes drive from Corfu town. The beach has soft sand dunes, no beach front building and offers a quiet spot for sunbathing and safe shallow swimming. Despite its peaceful seclusion, Halikounas is just an easy drive of 5 kms from the popular beach resort of Agios Georgios (south) and also in the vicinity you find the traditional village of Agios Mattheos.   

From the north side of Halikounas beach, at Alonaki, a dirt track takes you over the dunes to the narrow channel between Lake Korission and the sea. The unspoiled area of Lake Korission covers an expanse of 1500 acres and has generally not been greatly changed by tourism development. As the main wetland on the island, the lake is an important site for wildlife protection, especially for bird migration and breeding. It's surrounded by lush green vegetation, including a small forest of cedar and juniper trees. A truly magical place if you love being close to nature.

Nearby the lake you find the Fortress of Gardiki, a lovely old Byzantine ruin, probably built in the 13th century as part of a ring of fortifications around the island. Also the traditional village of Agios Mattheos is worth visiting. Built on the lower slopes of the 463m high mountain of the same name, it's one of Corfu's largest and most traditional villages and particular renowned for its main street, bordered by coffee bars and shops. A huge, dense forest of oak, fruit trees and wild olives encircle the village, and during the 19th century, fugitives from the law would hide out here. Near the summit of the mountain stands the Monastery of Pantokrator, built in the beginning of the 4th century AD. Left of the monastery a path leads you to a beautiful viewpoint from where you can see both coastlines and Lake Korission.

From the village of Agios Mattheos, it's not very far to the excellent sandy beach of Paramonas, with a few small islets off-shore and two or three tavernas beside the waves. Nearby you also find the clean and peaceful little beaches of Prasoudi, Kavouli and Skidi, in case you seek solitude during the peak season.

Prices are in euros and based on an occupancy of six guests. Cleaning and airport service are included

Additional guest are charged at € 80,00 per person per week.
